How do you write the counting rule on a window price list?
In one line under the prices: what counts as a pane, and how you count the awkward ones. A double-hung is two panes. A French window with divided lites is either priced per window with a surcharge or counted by the lite. Sliding doors, storm windows and skylights each get their own line. If customers can count from your rule, they can book from your sheet.
Should post-construction cleaning go on the same price list?
On the same sheet, in its own section. Property Refresh in Chicago charges $8 a pane for standard glass and $15 for large or storefront panes after construction, both sides, with frames, tracks and heavy residue extra. That work means paint, stickers, mortar and careful scraping, and it takes far longer than a maintenance clean, so it never shares a rate with one.
Post-construction jobs go wrong on timing. Glass cleaned before the last trades leave gets dusted, taped and splashed again, and the second clean becomes an argument. Print a line saying post-construction prices assume the other trades are finished, and quote a return visit separately when they aren’t.
What should stay off a window price list?
Anything you’d need to see first. Hard water restoration, glass you can only reach by lift or from the roof, heavily painted frames and commercial contracts belong under “Quoted on site.” Naming them shows customers you handle that work. A sheet that tries to price everything ends up with rates too high for easy houses and too low for hard ones.
Frequently asked questions
Should I put window cleaning prices on my website?
Yes: the per-pane or per-window rate, the sides and the minimum. Window cleaning is easy for a homeowner to rough out from a rate, and people who see the price before they call have already accepted it. Keep restoration and high-access work off the public page, and say that the final count is confirmed on site.
Should I show a whole-house window package?
Yes, beside the per-pane rate. “Up to 20 panes, outside only” is simple to buy; at $7.50 a pane that’s $150, close to a $149 minimum, so the package doubles as your entry price. Print the per-pane rate for anything beyond the package so larger houses price themselves.
How should storefront window cleaning appear on a price list?
As a route price per visit, not per pane. Storefronts want the same glass cleaned on a schedule, so quote each shop a flat visit price based on its glass and how often you come. Put the schedule options on the sheet and leave the per-visit price for the walk-through.
