Terms for using Make This Useful

Your agreement and account

By creating an account or using Make This Useful, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. Every person invited to a account must also be at least 18. If you use the service for a business or another organization, you confirm that you have authority to agree for it. Keep your sign-in secure and give us complete, current account information.

Free, without a card

Free includes everyday help for one person, with no payment card or end date. Free is available in the United States at launch. Paid plans include more people and more of the things Helper can make and look up. Every plan uses the same answers. Your saved work stays with you if a paid plan ends.

14-day subscription trial

Your first paid plan may begin with 14 days free. A payment card is required before this trial starts. After the trial, the monthly or yearly plan you chose renews at the amount shown at checkout unless you cancel first. Checkout shows the first payment date and recurring amount. Cancel online in Plan & billing; your plan continues until the trial or paid period ends. The trial is limited to one per person and payment card. Changing plans does not restart it.

Using the service

You must have the right to submit the material you use. Do not use the service to break the law, harm or deceive people, evade access or security controls, distribute malware, probe another account, overwhelm the service, misrepresent automated answers as verified facts, or process material you do not have the right to use.

Answers and your responsibility

Make This Useful turns questions and source material into work you can review. Answers are generated with automated systems and can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Check important facts, dates, amounts, instructions, calculations, and source material before you rely on, publish, or send an answer.

Do not use an answer as your only source for a decision that could materially affect a person’s rights, health, safety, employment, credit, housing, education, finances, or legal position. The service is not a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser, engineer, or other licensed professional. Get qualified help when the situation calls for it.

Business use and account sharing

You may use reviewed answers in your own work or business. You remain responsible for what you promise, quote, publish, sell, submit, or tell a customer. You may not resell access to the service, run it as a service bureau, share sign-in credentials, or let more people use a account than its plan allows.

Free covers one person. A paid plan covers up to 6 people, each with a separate sign-in. Membership does not give someone access to another person's private work. Removing a member ends their membership access to that account and its shared work.

A person who owns multiple accounts may share one paid plan across them. They share the plan's included features and fair-use limits. People limits apply per account; content access and membership remain separate. Plan changes and cancellation apply to every account using that plan. Stopping sharing does not cancel the subscription or move past charges.

The account owner may invite people up to the plan limit. Each person uses a separate sign-in. New personal chats and details remain personal until shared. Shared items have separate viewing, contribution, and management permissions; filing a chat in a folder does not share it. Existing account-shared work retains its shared audience. The account owner manages billing and account membership; this does not grant access to another person’s private work. Exports follow the requesting person’s content access.

Public share links

You can deliberately create a read-only link to a completed answer. Anyone who receives that link may be able to open and copy the shared snapshot until it expires or you revoke it. The shared snapshot does not attach your source receipt or a separate source-filename list, and it does not grant access to the folder, chat, or account that produced it. Identifying details already written in the visible title or answer are part of the snapshot.

Review the snapshot before sharing it, do not post a link more broadly than you intend, and revoke it from Privacy & data when it should no longer work. Changing the private original does not update a snapshot that was already shared. Deleting some private work may also remove its snapshot, but revoke the link directly whenever the snapshot itself should stop being available.

Plans and prices

We show yearly prices first, with monthly payment also available. Home is $99.99 a year or $9.99 a month. Premium is $299.99 a year or $29.99 a month. Trade is $199.99 a year or $19.99 a month. Trade + Premium is $399.99 a year or $39.99 a month. The Plans page and checkout show what is included, the people limit, any tax and the total before payment.

Your subscription price stays the same while you stay on that plan without a lapse. Changing plans uses the price shown when you confirm the change. Buying a plan or receiving a gift does not grant access to another person's chats or files.

Give a year

A plan gift covers one year, starting when the intended recipient opens it with their verified email. The price is shown before payment. It does not renew automatically. A gift covers the recipient’s own accounts without sharing either person’s chats or files.

An unclaimed gift expires after 60 days and is queued for a refund to the original payment method. A refund or payment reversal ends the gift's plan coverage. Contact support about an incorrect purchase or recipient. These terms do not limit your rights under applicable law.

Billing and cancellation

Our payment provider handles checkout and billing controls. A subscription renews monthly or yearly, as chosen at checkout, until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. An eligible monthly plan can skip its next payment for one month and resume the following month. You can undo that pause before it starts.

A failed payment may enter a short grace period. When paid coverage ends, you return to Free with your saved work kept. Checkout shows the price, taxes and renewal terms before you pay.

Refunds, disputes, and restricted access

You can request a full refund within seven days of your first subscription payment, or within 72 hours of an accidental renewal. Refunds return to the original payment method and end the refunded coverage. These rules do not limit rights that local law gives you.

A payment dispute may restrict new work while it is reviewed. We may also suspend new processing for misuse, a security threat, a legal requirement, or a serious risk to the service. When reasonable and legally allowed, saved work remains readable and exportable during a restriction. Refunds, disputes, and restrictions do not silently delete your work.

File limits

Supported document files on paid plans are generally limited to 25 MB and 200 pages. Record supports recordings up to two hours and 256 MB; short Talk recordings are limited to ten minutes and 25 MB. Only record material you have the right to record and submit. Unsafe, executable, macro-enabled, encrypted, damaged, or unsupported material may be rejected. Fair-use and simultaneous-request limits keep the service available.

Your content and answers

You keep your rights in material you submit. You give us the limited permission needed to host, process, transmit to service providers, and produce answers for you. You can export or delete material using the product controls described in the Privacy Notice.

To the extent the law allows, you own the answers created for you. Automated systems can give similar answers to different people, and we do not promise that an answer is unique, accurate, or free of someone else’s rights. You are responsible for reviewing an answer before commercial or public use.

Outside service providers

Make This Useful relies on outside infrastructure, generation, email, file-processing, search, and payment providers. Their availability can affect the service, and the providers may change. The Privacy Notice explains what they receive and why.

Availability and changes

We work to preserve accepted requests and customer data through interruptions, but the service may be unavailable for maintenance, provider outages, security events, or circumstances outside reasonable control. Features may change as the product improves. Material changes to these terms will be presented through the service or account email before they take effect when required.

Ending use of the service

You may stop using the service and request account deletion through the product controls. We may suspend or end access when required by law, when use creates a material security or service risk, for serious or repeated violations of these terms, or after required payment remains unresolved. When reasonable and legally allowed, we will give notice and a chance to export saved work. Sections that are meant to survive—such as ownership, payment obligations, warranty limits, liability limits, and legal rights—continue after access ends.

No warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service and its answers are provided as is and as available. We do not promise that they will always be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, fit for a particular purpose, or non-infringing. This does not limit any warranty or right that cannot legally be excluded.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Make This Useful and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from the service.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid for the service during the 12 months before the event that caused the claim. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability that cannot legally be limited.

Rights the law gives you

Nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights, privacy rights, or other protections that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest continues to apply.
