How were these handyman prices collected?
We read the price pages of 28 handyman businesses in 17 states, from Fairbanks to Orlando, on October 15, 2026, and recorded each price as the business publishes it. A range counts at its midpoint and a “from” price at its starting figure. Lead networks, templated city pages and pages quoting area rates are left out.
Most job prices are labor only, with the fan, faucet or TV mount supplied by the customer. Two lists include parts: Husband for an Hour in Fairbanks prices standard-grade parts into its economy tier, and Odds & Ends in Rockland County, New York, publishes total invoices. Read the note beside each business before comparing.
What do handymen charge per hour?
The median is $95 an hour across 15 businesses, and the middle half charge $74–$100. My Handy Hero in Orlando and Handy Dan in San Antonio charge $60; Servicebly in Philadelphia charges $118. JP Handyman in the Twin Cities bills $110 per worker-hour for a two-person crew.
Several businesses charge more for the first hour. GoldKey Repairs in the San Fernando Valley bills $150 for the first hour and $85 for each one after, which works as a built-in minimum.
What minimum and trip fee do handymen charge?
The median visit minimum is $150 across 11 businesses, from $75 at TSAR Development near Orlando to $200 at Ideal Handyman in Las Vegas; Rocky Ridge in Denver sets $190 and Superhandyman near Atlanta $165. No Sweat! and Tigard Handyman in the Portland area set two-hour minimums instead.
Trip fees are split. Boston Handyman Co., GoldKey and Denver Handy Co. charge none; My Handy Hero charges $40–$60 by distance, Grandma’s Handyman near Denver $50, and JP Handyman $65 on jobs of four hours or less.
What do common jobs cost at a flat price?
The medians: TV mounting $129, ceiling fan replacement $146, faucet replacement $174, light fixture swap $100, door adjustment $140, small drywall patch $150 and furniture assembly $125. A toilet replacement runs a median $265 across the 6 businesses that list one.
Most of these assume the customer supplies the fixture. Fan Handyman in San Antonio prices a ceiling fan swap at $125 with the customer’s fan and $200 when the ceiling is over 12 ft; Ohio Handyman charges $99 to mount a TV on the customer’s bracket and $149 with a full-motion mount supplied.
Do handymen charge by the hour or by the job?
Both, and the split is clear. HandyBandi in Chicago prices every job flat and never hourly, and Las Vegas Handyman Services has no hourly rate at all; GoldKey’s job prices are its own time estimates at its hourly rate. Flat prices sell the jobs customers search for; hourly covers the punch list nobody can price ahead.
Publishing a few flat prices answers the most common calls before the customer asks, and an hourly rate with a minimum covers everything else.
How should you use these numbers to set your own price?
Set your hourly rate and minimum from your own costs, then check them against the medians. If your rate is under $74, you are cheaper than about three quarters of these businesses; check that drive time, insurance and the trips to the hardware store are paid for.
Then build a short flat-price menu for the jobs you do every week, priced from your real times, and quote everything else by the hour.
What does each company publish?

Which price pages were left out?
