What do handymen charge to mount a TV?

The median is $129 across 17 businesses. Peter Pan Handyman, Ohio Handyman and Boston Handyman Co. start at $99; HandyBandi in Chicago at $155; Ideal Handyman in Las Vegas at $150 for screens up to 65 inches, labor only. The top of the range includes more: Husband for an Hour in Fairbanks charges $275 up to 55 inches, and Superhandyman near Atlanta $350.

Most of these prices assume drywall, studs where you need them and the customer’s own bracket.

How do size, wall and mount change the price?

Bigger screens and harder walls add a step. Peter Pan charges $99 up to 65 inches, $119 for 70–85 and $149 above a fireplace; Boston Handyman Co. goes from $99 up to 55 inches to $129 for larger screens on brick or a fireplace; Odds & Ends in Rockland County charges $185–$235 for 32–55 inches and $235–$310 for 65–75.

Supplying the mount is a separate choice. Ohio Handyman charges $99 on the customer’s bracket, $129 with a fixed mount and $149 with a full-motion mount it supplies.

What should wire concealment cost?

Price it as its own line. Ohio Handyman charges $30 for a surface cover and $99 for in-wall concealment; Ideal Handyman adds $125 for in-wall wiring, labor only. Northwest Philly Handyman’s $200 explicitly excludes hiding the wiring.

Ask before you quote whether there is an outlet behind the TV. In-wall concealment that needs a new outlet is electrical work and a different price.

What should a TV mounting quote say?

The screen size, the wall (drywall, brick, plaster, over a fireplace), whose bracket, whether the wires are hidden and how, and whether you set up the TV. Ohio Handyman includes smart-TV setup in its price; say whether yours does.

Add a line for the second TV on the same visit. The trip is already paid for, so it can cost less than the first.

Frequently asked questions

Should I charge more for mounting on brick?

Yes. Boston Handyman Co. moves from $99 to $129 for larger screens on brick or a fireplace; masonry anchors and drilling take longer than finding studs.

Do I supply the TV mount?

Offer both. Ohio Handyman charges $99 with the customer’s bracket and $129–$149 with a mount it supplies, so the customer chooses.

How long does a TV mounting take?

Price the job, not the hour, for standard mounts. GoldKey Repairs estimates about an hour with cable management, which is why its price starts at its $150 first hour.
