How much to charge for ceramic coating
Charge by the years of protection and the prep it needs. Detailers that publish a multi-year coating charge a median $749 on a sedan, with the middle half at $497–$900. Bell’s Mobile Detailing in Sacramento charges $599 for three years and $1,299 for nine; Fresh Path in Richmond, Texas, $749 for three and $1,999 for ten.

How do the years change the price?
Each step up in years costs more, because the products cost more and the prep has to be better. Bell’s goes $599, $999 and $1,299 for three, five and nine years on a sedan; Fresh Path $749, $1,199 and $1,999 for three, six and ten; Fresh Layer in San Diego $599, $799 and $1,299 for one, three and six, each with paint correction included.
At the low end, SIR’S in New Jersey starts at $350 and Detail Theory in Dallas–Fort Worth charges $400 for a 3–5 year coating; the XPEL coating at Slick Auto Care in Little Rock starts at $1,815 for up to four years.
Should paint correction be in the price?
Say either way, because it is most of the work. Fresh Layer includes paint correction in every coating package, Ultimate Mobile Detailing in Wesley Chapel includes eight hours of paint prep and charges $100 an hour beyond that, and Sage Mobile Detail in Albuquerque includes decontamination and a one-step gloss enhancement. Detail Theory sells a one-step correction plus a 3–5 year coating as a $750 package.
A coating on uncorrected paint locks in the swirls. If you skip correction to hit a price, tell the customer what they will see.
How much more for an SUV or truck?
From $50 to $175 per size step on these lists. Detail Theory and Fresh Layer add $50 for an SUV; on a three-year coating Bell’s goes from $599 to $699, Fresh Path from $749 to $899, and Uplift Mobile Detailing in Sacramento from $900 to $1,075.
Price the paint area, not the badge: a long-bed truck has much more panel than a crossover.
What should a ceramic coating quote say?
The product, the years promised and what keeps the warranty valid, the prep steps included, how long the vehicle needs to stay dry, and the price. Fresh Path ties its coating warranties to maintenance; say what yours requires.
Offer a maintenance wash with it. Slick Auto Care sells a monthly maintenance subscription for coated vehicles from $99.99, which keeps the customer coming back.

Frequently asked questions
Is a ceramic spray sealant the same as a coating?
No. Spray sealants are add-ons that last months: Fresh Path charges $60 and Bell’s from $79 for a six-month sealant, against hundreds for a multi-year coating.
Should I offer a warranty?
Only one you can back. Write the years, what voids it and the maintenance it needs on the quote and the invoice.
How long does a coating job take?
Longer than a detail: the wash, decontamination, correction and curing time. Ultimate Mobile Detailing’s coating prices include eight hours of paint prep, before the coating goes on.
