Charge about $112 to haul away a refrigerator, and say whether refrigerant recovery is included. Across 10 junk removal price lists the middle half charge $85–$119. Junk Same Day in Denver includes Freon recovery at $99, while Action Junk Hauling in Seattle and Grizzly Junk Pros in Connecticut add about $40 and $50 for it.

What do companies charge to remove a fridge?

The median is $112 across 10 companies. Just Haul It in Maricopa takes an empty fridge from the curb from $50 and JunkGuys San Antonio charges $65; most others sit at $99–$129, and Junk-It-Quick in Fort Myers charges $150. Junk Hubris in Portland quotes $125–$200.

Other appliances run a little lower, a median $97: Junk Seattle takes a washer, dryer or dishwasher from $89, and Tex Mex Junk Removal in Houston from $49 with easy access.

Why does refrigerant change the price?

Refrigerators and freezers go to the scrap yard or landfill with refrigerant still inside, and EPA rules make the final disposer responsible for getting it recovered. The disposer must keep a signed statement naming who recovered the refrigerant and when, or recover it themselves and charge for it.

So a fridge costs you either a certified technician’s recovery or the recycler’s fee. Moore Junk Removal in Temple, Texas, will not take one until a certified technician has removed the Freon; others build the fee in, like Junk Same Day, or list it, like Action and Grizzly.

What raises the price of an appliance pickup?

Stairs, distance and a full fridge. Tex Mex charges $49 with easy access within 10 miles and $89 and up for upstairs or complex removals; Just Haul It’s curbside price assumes the fridge is empty of food.

Ask three questions before you quote: which floor, is it empty and unplugged, and does the door come off to fit through the hallway.

Should you list appliances separately on your price list?

Yes. Customers search for one appliance, not a quarter load, and a single line (“Refrigerator removal, Freon recovery included: $119”) answers them before they call. Put a separate fee for refrigerant only if your load prices do not cover it.

If you price by the load, say how an appliance counts. Richie Bros in Des Moines adds an unpriced surcharge for fridges, freezers, washers and dryers on top of its trailer price; a published number would save that conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take a fridge to the landfill myself?

Check with the landfill or scrap yard first. They must ensure the refrigerant is recovered and keep a signed statement of who did it, so many charge a recovery fee or turn away units without paperwork.

Do freezers and window air conditioners count?

Yes. EPA’s safe disposal rule covers household refrigerators and freezers and window units; price them like a fridge.

Should a fridge cost more than a washer?

Usually a little. The refrigerant is the difference: companies here charge a median $112 for a fridge and $97 for other appliances.
