Landscaping price list template
Landscapers tend to publish two kinds of price: an hourly crew rate for maintenance and cleanups, and per-yard installed prices for mulch, while installs get a written quote. Thrive Landscape and Design in Austin lists mulch at $60–$110 a cubic yard, delivered and spread on prepared beds (checked October 2026). For each row, give the unit, what it includes, the minimum, and which work you only price after a visit.

What belongs on a landscaping price list, and what doesn’t?
Put on it the work you can price without a site visit: the crew rate for cleanups and pruning, installed mulch or rock by the yard, bed edging, seasonal cleanups as starting prices, and your minimum. Keep installs, hardscape, drainage and tree work off it. HomeGuide’s $3,000–$16,000 band for new installations shows how far apart two jobs with the same name can be.
If you want installs on the sheet at all, give them one line saying how you price them: a site visit, a drawn plan, then a written quote. That tells a customer what happens next without putting a number on a yard you haven’t walked, and it sets up a paid design visit if you charge for one.
How should a crew-hour rate read on the sheet?
Say how many people the rate covers. “Hourly rate” reads as one person to some customers and the whole crew to others; “per hour for a two-person crew” leaves no doubt. Add whether drive time, dump fees and materials are inside the rate, and the minimum time you bill, since a short visit still uses the truck and trailer.
A two-person crew working three hours is three crew-hours and six labor-hours. Bill in the unit you printed and use the same one on the invoice, or a customer who reads “3 hours” on the bill will wonder why it comes to twice the rate.
Should mulch be priced with or without delivery?
All-in is easier for customers to compare; separate delivery protects you on small and distant jobs. Thrive in Austin folds delivery, bed prep and labor into its per-yard price, while CheapMulch lists $35 a yard installed and charges delivery by distance. If you go all-in, set a minimum yardage; if you split it out, print your delivery zones.
List mulch by type, because hardwood, dyed and cedar don’t cost the same at the supply yard, and print the depth you spread to. A row that says “installed mulch, 3 inches deep, per yard” lets a customer check your count against their beds. One that just says “mulch” invites the cheaper bid that spreads it half as deep.
Frequently asked questions
Should landscapers put prices on their website?
Publish the repeatable work: the crew rate, mulch by the yard and seasonal cleanups from a starting price. Those filter out people expecting half your rate before you spend a site visit on them. Leave install prices off. A range wide enough to be honest is too wide to help anyone, and a single figure becomes the number they hold you to.
Should the price list show a minimum?
Yes. A short pruning visit still needs the truck, the trailer, the tools and the drive, so set a minimum charge per visit and print it beside the hourly rate. For mulch, set a smallest order, or charge delivery on small orders the way CheapMulch bills it on its own line.
When should I raise my landscaping prices?
Before spring booking starts, and whenever your supplier raises mulch, stone or plant prices. Put a “prices valid until” date on the sheet so nobody holds up last year’s copy, and tell maintenance customers before their first visit. Move per-yard and plant prices with your costs; move the hourly rate once a year.
