Christmas light installation estimate template
A holiday-light estimate should separate the lights from the annual service, name the roofline runs and include the return visit. This filled example covers a 120-foot C9 roofline with customer-owned equipment after purchase. Installation and takedown are one labor line; storage stays with the customer.
Example: first-season C9 roofline lights
Uses Abulous’s published $4 per foot for C9 lights and $4 per foot for installation plus takedown.
C9 roofline lights; customer owns equipment: 120 linear feet × $4 = $480.
Install, test and take down the agreed roofline: 120 linear feet × $4 = $480.
Total before tax: $960. No booking deposit. Half due after installation; half due after takedown. Late fees: none.
Offer valid for 14 days. The maker below lets you edit the work, quantities, rates and terms.

How do you make the lighting design part of the quote?
Attach a front-of-house photo with each included roofline run marked. State the measured length, C9 color and the control arrangement. List trees, columns, wreaths and ground features individually when they are included. The approved picture should match the lines the customer is paying for.
Add the customer’s name, service address, your business details and an estimate reference. Confirm who can approve a design change during installation. For a rented property or business frontage, settle access and permission for the planned attachments before scheduling the crew.
What ownership and service terms belong beside the price?
This example sells the lights to the customer and includes installation and takedown in a separate annual labor line. It leaves storage with the customer. If your package uses leased lights or includes storage, replace those terms and identify which equipment must be returned.
Write what happens if a bulb or strand stops working. Distinguish a repair to your installation from damage or a new design request, and state which parts and visits are included. Confirm the outdoor power connection and timer location so the customer knows what must be available when you arrive.
How do you agree installation, removal and payment?
Enter installation and takedown windows, with a contact method for weather changes. Keep the removal visit in the accepted scope even when payment happens earlier. A customer should not have to book a second service to get down lights sold as a seasonal package.
The example has no booking deposit and splits payment between installation and takedown. It follows Abulous’s published half-at-installation, half-at-removal arrangement. Change the payment points to your agreed terms, then show the dates or completion events clearly. The editable fourteen-day offer period is a business choice for this example.
Before sending the PDF, compare the marked roofline with the quantities and total. Check the service address, ownership, storage and repair terms. Keep the accepted version with the job photos, and get approval for extra runs or replacement lights before adding them.
Frequently asked questions
Can this estimate cover lights the customer already owns?
Remove the equipment purchase line and inspect the existing lights. Keep installation, testing and takedown in the service scope. Add approved replacement equipment separately rather than silently treating it as included labor.
Should I put storage on a separate line?
Use a separate line when storage is an optional or separately priced service. If your annual package includes it, name it in the scope and explain labeling, return and collection arrangements.
What if the customer adds a tree on installation day?
Describe the tree lighting, strands, access and added price before starting. Confirm whether the same takedown visit covers it. Add the approved change to the estimate so both visits carry the expanded scope.
