What should a per-push snow price include?
Define the cleared area and the snowfall depth that starts service. Name the driveway, parking pad, walk and steps separately if they have different prices. State whether a return after the street plow leaves a berm is included. A push is a unit of work; the customer needs to know which pass that unit buys.
The two published cards use different triggers. Rosemount starts at two inches and lists de-icing as an add-on. Total Wash starts at one inch unless the contract says otherwise and includes salt in residential driveway prices. Those terms can produce different visit counts and work even at the same address.
How do you price a seasonal snow contract?
Budget the route’s expected work, then define what the season price covers and how extra visits are billed. Include readiness, equipment, paid time, travel between stops, fuel, materials and administration. A season fee pays for capacity reserved for that property as well as visits that actually occur.
Rosemount’s posted two-car season is $600 for November through March, with up to 12 counted plow-outs; a storm of at least 10 inches counts as two. Total Wash’s two- to three-car plan is $1,040, paid in five installments, for up to 16 counted visits. It counts a storm of at least six inches as two visits. Keep the cap and counting rule beside the total.
What makes one driveway harder than another?
Walk or photograph the route before snow hides it. Record driveway width, length, slope, gravel, turnarounds and places to put the snow. Mark edges and fixed obstacles with the customer. A long narrow approach with nowhere to stack snow can take more time than a broad driveway with a clear pushing area.
Allow time for hand work, parked cars and restricted access. Quote hauling snow off site separately when pushing and stacking will not be enough. For several nearby stops, calculate travel from the actual route; a low driveway rate only works if the route still gets completed within the service window you sold.
How do salt and return visits affect your margin?
Count the material and application time once. If salt is included, build it into the selling rate; if it is an add-on, show the treated area and charge. Decide how a refreeze visit or a pass during a long storm is authorized and billed. Those events should have a rule before the first weather call arrives.
Use your own cost records in the calculator: paid plow and shovel time, equipment running cost, route travel, materials and overhead. Divide complete cost by one minus your target margin. Check the season total against several visit counts, including the point where extra-visit charges begin, so one price does not silently promise unlimited work.
Three worked prices
Multiply the posted per-push rate by the stated visit count. Seasonal prices retain each operator’s own cap, snowfall trigger and storm-counting rule.
One standard Madison driveway visit. The Total Wash Co.’s two- to three-car driveway tier, with salt included.
Driveway plowing with salt: 1 push × $80 = $80.

Twelve Minnesota driveway pushes. Twelve visits at Rosemount’s $60 two-car per-push rate, before optional de-icing. Compare with its separately posted $600 capped season.
Two-car driveway plowing: 12 pushes × $60 = $720.
Example total: $720. Rate source: Rosemount Plowing: per-push and seasonal prices, checked 2026-10-15.
Thirteen standard Madison pushes. Thirteen visits at the $80 per-push price equal the posted $1,040 season fee. The plan includes up to 16 counted visits under its storm rules.
Standard driveway visits with salt: 13 pushes × $80 = $1,040.

Frequently asked questions
Is a push the same as a snowstorm?
Only if the contract defines it that way. A long storm can need more than one pass, and some seasonal plans count deep storms as multiple visits. State the return-pass and visit-count rules beside the rate.
Should I charge per inch of snow?
You can use depth bands when they match the extra work, but define the measurement and service trigger. The two cards here use driveway tiers and specific heavy-storm rules. Avoid adding a depth surcharge that was absent from the accepted quote.
Does a seasonal price mean unlimited visits?
Read and write the cap explicitly. Rosemount’s quoted season covers up to 12 counted plow-outs; Total Wash’s covers up to 16. Heavy storms can consume more than one allowance, and later visits have their own charges.
How should I price a gravel driveway?
Inspect the slope, surface and snow-storage area, then allow for the equipment setup and working method. Rosemount places gravel, slopes and obstacles in its difficult-driveway category. State the agreed clearing finish and surface conditions in the scope.
Should sidewalks be included in the driveway price?
Name the walkways and steps included, or list their hand-clearing work separately. The time to clear a long front walk can exceed the driveway pass. Keep the pedestrian areas visible on the site sketch and estimate.
What happens if cars block the driveway?
Agree what accessible area will be cleared and whether a later return is included or charged. Give the customer a clear parking instruction before the service window. Apply that rule consistently rather than deciding a fee after the truck arrives.
