How to price holiday house cleaning before or after guests
Price the clean the home needs, then the deadline. Angi’s September 2026 regular-cleaning range is $0.10–$0.20 per square foot; HomeGuide’s April 2024 hourly range is $25–$75 per cleaner-hour. A pre-guest clean is usually a deep clean of the rooms guests will use, so quote those rooms and tasks, plus any after-party return, as named lines.

Starting point: $50.00 per hour. Hourly, per cleaner (US guide): $25.00–$75.00 per cleaner-hour. Our midpoint of that range, rounded to cents. Rate is per worker, not per team. HomeGuide: house cleaning prices, checked 2026-10-15.
Extras, travel and minimum
Agree the rooms, kitchen appliances and guest areas before quoting. Count cleaner-hours across everyone working. Price a second visit separately so a pre-guest clean does not quietly include the after-party cleanup.

What is different about a pre-holiday clean?
Ask which rooms guests will use and what needs to be ready first. Kitchens, guest bathrooms, dining areas and entry floors often deserve different attention from closed bedrooms. Turn that priority into a task list with the included rooms, instead of selling a vague holiday package that everyone interprets differently.
Check whether the customer wants routine upkeep or a first deep clean. Greasy kitchen surfaces, shower buildup and long-neglected corners need time beyond a normal maintenance visit. Name inside-oven, refrigerator, cabinet and glass work separately when those tasks are included.
How do you price cleaning after a party or overnight guests?
Describe the actual reset: floors, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, trash handling and the rooms used. Decide whether dishes, laundry, linen changes and furniture moving are part of the booking. Those tasks can fill the day while leaving the ordinary cleaning checklist unfinished if they were never allowed for.
Use estimated cleaner-hours when the condition will only be clear after the event, with an agreed limit or approval point. For a fixed price, inspect enough of the scope to commit to the finished job. Record any specialist stain treatment or damage as separate work instead of promising it within a routine reset.
Should you add a holiday or last-minute fee?
Base any different price on the cost and capacity of the booking you will actually perform. A late request can require overtime, extra travel or a changed route; a visit scheduled well ahead may fit the ordinary rate. The cited price cards do not establish a blanket holiday markup.
Give the customer the total and included tasks before they book. If the budget is fixed, offer a smaller guest-area scope rather than quietly reducing the full-home checklist. Keep the date, arrival window and access arrangements attached to the accepted quote so the deadline is clear.
How do you calculate enough cleaner-hours?
Count the time for every person on the team, including setup, travel and cleanup of equipment. Two cleaners for three hours use six cleaner-hours. BLS reports May 2024 mean employee pay of $17.39 per hour for maids and housekeeping cleaners; use your actual pay and payroll costs when costing the booking.
Add supplies, equipment and a share of insurance and administration, then divide complete cost by one minus your target margin. Keep your own pay in the calculation if you work alone. After the visit, compare the task list with actual time so the next holiday booking uses a firmer allowance.
Three worked prices
Areas and cleaner-hours describe the example bookings. Rates come from the named regular-cleaning bands or MagiClean’s published Seattle deep-cleaning card.
Guest-ready maintenance clean. An 1,800 sq ft home at $0.16 per sq ft, inside Angi’s regular-cleaning range, with ordinary upkeep tasks.
Regular pre-guest house clean: 1,800 square feet × $0.16 = $288.
Example total: $288. Rate source: Angi: house cleaning prices by floor area, checked 2026-10-15.
After-event reset by cleaner-hour. Six total cleaner-hours at $50 per cleaner, within HomeGuide’s hourly band. The agreed reset excludes specialist stain treatment.
Post-event floors, bathrooms and kitchen reset: 6 cleaner-hours × $50 = $300.
Example total: $300. Rate source: HomeGuide: house cleaning prices, checked 2026-10-15.
Detailed kitchen and bathroom booking. Four cleaner-hours at MagiClean’s $75 deep-cleaning rate, above its $200 one-time minimum.
Agreed kitchen and bathroom deep-clean tasks: 4 cleaner-hours × $75 = $300.

Frequently asked questions
Should a holiday clean always be a deep clean?
Choose the service from the home’s condition and the agreed tasks. A maintained home may need routine work in guest areas. First-time buildup or appliance interiors can require a deeper scope, regardless of the date on the calendar.
Are dishes and laundry included after a party?
Include them only when the booking names them and allows the time. Describe the dishes, linen changes or laundry work separately from surface cleaning. Otherwise the customer and crew may expect different jobs from the same visit.
Can I quote only the kitchen and guest bathroom?
Yes. Name the included rooms and tasks and apply a visit minimum that covers travel and setup. Make the excluded rooms clear so a smaller booking is understood as a focused service.
What if guests are still in the house when the team arrives?
Agree the access and room sequence beforehand. Record which areas can be cleaned and how a delay changes the booking. A shorter available window may require a revised task list or a later visit, with the price agreed before work changes.
Should I charge more for working on the holiday itself?
Calculate the actual staffing and travel cost for that date, then quote the complete price before booking. Keep it distinct from a normal weekday pre-guest clean. The customer can compare the date they want with another available service window.
How do I avoid underpricing a first visit?
Inspect the rooms or review useful photos, write the task list and allow time for existing buildup. Keep the first clean separate from an ongoing maintenance rate. Review actual cleaner-hours before offering the same price for the next visit.
